CINE MANIFEST looks back at a 1970s Marxist film collective in San Francisco, a group made up of idealistic artists united by their desire to change the world through cinema. Three decades later, the members of the long-defunct radical outfit recall (with a mixture of nostalgia and gentle chagrin) their time together, and the lofty goals they never quite achieved. This artful documentary combines personal interviews with clips from the members` works, as well as candid home movies that capture a poignant, distant portrait of youthful optimism.
